High dynamic range imaging (HDRI or HDR) is a set of methods used in imaging and photography, to allow a greater dynamic range between the lightest and darkest areas of an image than current standard digital imaging methods or photographic methods. High-dynamic-range photographs are generally achieved by capturing multiple standard photographs, often using exposure bracketing, and then merging them into an HDR image. This Photoshop action creates a very realistic HDR effect using some cool tricks.

It works perfectly well for all kinds of images and photos but my advice to use it with gray color photographs because the effect is better. This free Photoshop action creates a pseudo HDR effect using the High Pass and Shadows/Highlights smart filters. It is also changed the Curves adjustment options to obtain a realistic HDR effect in Photoshop. All the layers are intact inclusively the initial image so you can easily make small adjustments depending on your image.

This action is doing a great job at boosting colors, bringing details and balancing the shadow areas on a photo with strong contrast like those shoot in midday sun.
